  the Bicycle Map Project
this initiative aims to provide a bicycle route map for all types of cyclists. it will be a community-build, bicycle route-map project featuring different types of routes for getting in, out, & around Kuala Lumpur City Centre. the map is centred on KL City Centre and covers about 88 square km, with all the key roads connecting the surrounding suburban areas.

the base maps have been printed and are being distributed to volunteers. cycling volunteers are now surveying and mapping out suitable routes at their district. volunteers meet every saturday, more volunteers are welcomed. studio 25 aims to complete a first draft by end of June, and provide this printed bicycle map for free at the end of 2013.

Gurmit Singh
started advocating cycling on World Environment Day in the 70s. (his picture was front page with a gas mask in 1979). have got in contact with him to inform of project and gratitude to his early efforts, his response

“Glad to learn of your initiative and will follow it with interest. The photo was taken in 1978 not 1974. A word of caution about cycling in the klang valley - air pollution from motor vehicles could have only got worse from 1978!! Careful about what you breathe when cycling through heavy motor traffic. Regards, Gurmit”

Some words of encouragement and caution from 70 year old activist and advocate of cycling.
